Sunshiners in the Durango Herald

Every now and again, Sunshine Gardens Residents make the paper – and it’s always for a good reason!

On July 17th, 2019, resident Allene Perra celebrated her 104th birthday with friends, family, and staff.  The Durango Herald was kind enough to come out and interview her, take pictures, and join the celebration!

Allene’s positive outlook and fond memories make our days brighter.  We’re so happy to have her here!

Below, staff member Mikaela Saunderson puts finishing touches on a Veterans Memorial Wall of Heroes.  Follow the links to see the original articles in the Durango Herald!

What our families say

“My mom is cared for physically and emotionally in a manner that my dad would have been proud to give her. There is rarely a day that goes by that I don’t thank God she is there.”

“[My mother’s] Alzheimer’s Disease had progressed to the point that a secure facility of a modest size was the only situation which for her circumstances and, in fact, encouraged her to thrive.”
